HOW ARE YOUR TUTORS SCREENED?

Our tutors undergo a rigorous recruitment process. Every tutor is assessed according to the following criteria:

1) Academic strength;
2) Good interpersonal skills; and
3) Prior tutoring experience

Since our tutors are a few years older than our students, they are adequately equipped with the skills and experience necessary to serve as a mentor.

WHAT IS A TUTOR CLASS?

A tutor class is a 2 hour group session wherein the tutor revises module topics and works through practice questions.

📌 All of our tutor classes are hosted online via Microsoft Teams.

WHAT IS A TUTOR CONSULTATION?

A tutor consultation is a 1 hour private session wherein the tutor provides one-on-one support to students.

It is reserved for student queries only, including homework questions, reinforcement of concepts covered in the tutor classes and any further clarification required prior to assessments.

WHAT IS AN EXAMINATION WORKSHOP?

An examination workshop is a 2 hour group session wherein the tutor works through practice questions in preparation for the examination.

WHAT DO I NEED TO ATTEND A TUTOR CLASS, TUTOR CONSULTATION OR EXAMINATION WORKSHOP?

1) A computer, laptop or tablet;
2) A stable internet connection; and
3) A Microsoft Teams account

HOW MANY STUDENTS DO YOUR TUTOR CLASSES AND EXAMINATION WORKSHOPS COMPRISE?

Our tutor classes and examination workshops comprise a maximum of 100 students.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

To ensure fairness to our tutors and other students, we have implemented the following cancellation policy:

If a student is unable to attend their tutor class, tutor consultation or examination workshop, they are required to cancel their booking at least 24 hours before the class, consultation or workshop or, in the event of an emergency (sudden illness or death), as soon as is reasonably possible, in which case, proof of such illness or death must be emailed to thestudyyroom@gmail.com. 

Where a student timeously notifies us of their inability to attend a tutor class or examination workshop, a link to the recording will be sent to them. This link, and thus access to the recording, will expire within 7 days from the date on which the link was sent.

Where a student timeously notifies us of their inability to attend a tutor consultation, such consultation will be rescheduled.

Where a student fails to timeously notify us of their inability to attend a tutor class, tutor consultation or examination workshop, they will not receive a link to the tutor class or examination workshop recording nor will they be entitled to a rescheduling of the tutor consultation. In such a case, the student will be responsible for full payment. 

Where a student is late for their tutor class, tutor consultation or examination workshop, they will be marked as a “no-show” and will be responsible for full payment. 

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

Refunds will not be granted in the following cases:

  1. If a student fails to correctly and timeously cancel their tutor class, tutor consultation or examination workshop;
  2. If a student is late for their tutor class, tutor consultation or examination workshop;
  3. If a student is dissatisfied with their tutor's teaching style and an alternative tutor has been offered;
  4. If a student correctly and timeously cancels their tutor class or examination workshop but a link to the recording can be sent to them; and
  5. If a student correctly and timeously cancels their tutor consultation but a rescheduling thereof is feasible.

📌 Refund requests must be submitted to thestudyyroom@gmail.com and should include the student's personal details, banking details and reason for refund.
📌 The Study Room will review each request and respond within 7 business days.
📌 Approved refunds will be processed via EFT within 14 business days from the date on which the refund request was received. Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider. 

I CANNOT BOOK A TUTOR CLASS OR EXAMINATION WORKSHOP. HOW CAN I GET ACCESS TO THE RECORDING?

If you are unable to book a tutor class or examination workshop (due to a schedule clash or a lack of space), you can purchase the recording for the same price as the live tutor class or examination workshop via the "Tutor Class Recordings" page or the "Examination Workshop Recordings" page. 

Within 24 hours after we have received payment, you will be emailed a link to the recording. Simply click on the link to access the recording. 

This link, and thus access to the recording, will expire within 7 days from the date on which the link was sent. Â
